Wodonga South, in partnership with Gateway Healths School Focused Youth Services engaged the Dogs Connect Full Scale Program in semester 2 of 2020. Wodonga South Primary School is a large primary school and the introduction of Meeka (female Groodle) has generated lots of excitement. Meek joined the team when she was 16 weeks old and has had a very powerful impact on both individual staff and students, as well as groups of staff and students.
Here are some comments from students on how Meeka has impacted their learning environment at Wodonga South Primary School.
“When we get the chance to sit down with her and we get to do a bit of our work around her it feels like we’re into the zone to learn more with her as company around us.”
“When she’s in the classroom she helps me relax.”
“It makes the whole environment calm ‘coz we don’t want to be noisy with her. So it makes the classroom calm and everyone does their work.”
“People don’t really get distracted by her. It seems to help them focus better.”
“It’s something to get excited about.”
