The Martyn Program at Catholic College Bendigo engaged Dogs Connect as a pilot incursion program in 2017. The program’s focus was Social and Emotional Learning and involved working closely with school leaders and well-being coordinators. The program involved Grant and Sonny running a series of 8 teaching and learning wellbeing workshops focusing on the specific needs of students and staff.
Data collected showed significant growth for students in having strategies to call on for regulating emotions and being aware of times in life that this can be useful. The impact on students was profound, and the staff now use what they have learnt from the program to improve their own teaching practices.
