At Dogs Connect, our aim is to help create lifelong learners through improved wellbeing, awareness and connection.
Dogs Connect introduces a dog into a learning setting to work on various levels of wellbeing – for students, staff and school communities.
Dogs Connect works very closely with the school community to design a long term, sustainable program to meet the specific needs of the students and staff.
Dogs Connect can create programs addressing:
- Trauma impacts
- Self regulation
- Stress management
- Emotional literacy
- Sensory processing
The main components covered in the program are empathy, awareness of others and self, self-regulation and reactivity.
The impact of all Dogs Connect teaching and learning experiences are measured through a range of platforms. We conduct pre and post assessment surveys for students and staff, and analysis of school-wide data. The ongoing use of qualitative and quantitative data is essential in effective assessment and implementation of this program.
We facilitate focus group sessions with staff, students and parents. All data is analysed and results are presented to schools on completion of the program in a comprehensive Data Analysis Report. This report highlights successes and challenges, informs for future teaching and learning plans, and guides schools through ways to maintain and sustain the benefits of the Dogs Connect program.
